The SPCA is a nonprofit that started in England in an effort to protect carriage horses from abuse and neglect. Now it assists any animal in distress – lost, abandoned, injured, diseased, neglected, ill treated or unwanted – all without profit. A volunteer told us they receive an average of 70 DOGS (just dogs) a day at one shelter and are always needing food, blankets, volunteers, donations and families willing to adopt. This organization has saved millions of animal lives and in the process improved the lives of thousands of humans all over the world. That’s beautiful.
